Malankara Dam is located at about 6 km from Thodupuzha town. It is a popular tourist spot with an artificial lake spreading over 11 km. The reservoir is an artificial lake which is formed by the water flowing from the tail-gate of Moolamattom power house. The Malankara reservoir and dam is ideal for boating and fishing.
With permission from the Irrigation Department, visitors will be allowed to stroll along the pathway atop the dam, which commands an overview of the greenery around. The reservoir is ideal for boating and fishing. Malankara is well connected by roads and served by frequent bus services. The basement of the dam has a very beautiful picnic spot over looking the Kodayathoor hills. The water is very clean and inviting. The greenery is worth enjoying. An ideal place for picnic and tours. Few hotels are also avalibale beside the dam.
